The Blog of Seven Okelli
Don't go thinking that you missed day one, because you haven't.
I created a new alt by the name of Celestial Doghouse. I couldn't resist the name, but she has a real purpose and adventure.
At the time I came up with the name, I'd never heard of Chris Mosdell, who has a set of tracks called "In the Celestial Doghouse" on one of his releases. It's just a coincidence.
I want to point out a few things in the photo. You might recognize the avatar as the "Girl Next Door" newbie avatar. The clothes are freebies from a welcome sim I blundered upon.
Note the black underwear showing above the waistband. That's the painted-on underwear the skin comes with.
She really looks like a n00b, doesn't she?
It's part of the idea.
I saw this bit of wisdom from Immy in the forums the other day:
One thing I discovered about finding obscure things in SL is that a good response to the frustration is to bite the bullet and start developing it for yourself. (^_^)
Change "I want to FIND" into "I want to MAKE". The adventure alone could lead to hours, days, even weeks of enjoyment. And, while in the process of developing what you'd like to explore, you may find in your gathering of resources people who ~have~ done it but weren't so easy to search for given the initial criteria. (^_^)
When I logged in the first time as Celestial, I didn't end up on Welcome Island or Help Me Central or wherever it is that newbies usually are born. I popped up on a business sim that was empty of people. It was empty of everything else, too: it had no stores, no boxes of freebies, no notecards or instructions. Just grass and trees and empty office buildings.
I looked around and said, Wow. I know what *I* can do!
[The scene is Bargain City. I'll have more to say about this sim in the days ahead. It's not where I first landed, btw.]
